R-22/R-410A Mechanical Refrigeration Troubleshooting
An educational course that teaches HVAC Service technicians about trouble-shooting procedures for both R-22 and R-410A systems. The course features lectures and skill practice sessions that enhance learning. Course content includes basic refrigeration cycle information, evaporator circuits and superheat, condenser circuits and subcooling, TXV and fixed metering.
This course teaches basic refrigeration cycle test procedures and theory. The course allows the user to work with both R-22 and R-410A examples. Once the user has completed lecture topics they can advance into a refrigeration cycle simulator that features refrigeration cycle problems such as restrictions, air flow, and charge problems.
Course Topics Include:
• Basic mechanical refrigeration cycle theory
Learn basic information about the mechanical refrigeration cycle and how heat is transferred. Saturated state of refrigerant is emphasized.
• The Evaporator Circuit
Learn how to maximize system capacity in the evaporator circuit. The cycle operation of both fixed and expansion valve metering is covered. Basic air volume calculation is covered.
Superheat measurement and how to troubleshoot the evaporator circuit using superheat and pressure combinations are stressed. Interactive examples allow users to practice identifying common evaporator circuit malfunctions.
• The Condenser Circuit
Learn about condenser coil circuit operation and troubleshooting. Subcooling measurement and how to troubleshoot using subcooling performance is covered. Liquid line flash gas formation and required subcooling levels are stressed.
• Diagnostic Troubleshooting
In this chapter, refrigeration circuit malfunctions and how to detect them are covered. Temperature measurements and examples allow users to learn symptoms of many refrigeration cycle malfunctions. Interactive examples allow the user to practice identifying many types of problems.
